These are the CDs that no Reggae collection is complete without:
First and foremost, you must have a copy of "Legend" by Bob Marley and the Wailers. This is by far the best-selling Reggae album of all time, and way up there on the list of worldwide best-sellers regardless of genre (Michael Jackson, eat your heart out!!).
THE COLLECTIONS: There are a couple of excellent series of collections on the VP label. "Strictly The Best", is up to 28 releases and "Reggae Gold", currently on its tenth annual release. Poke around in the bins in the Reggae/World Music section of your local record store, and you're likely to find a number of these treasures waiting for you. Another excellent compilation is called "Reggae Pulse", and is featured on those TV direct-mail ads. . .watch for it, it's well worth the price for the 2 CD set of classic hits from the roots of Reggae.
